Episode #021: Little League Girls Day

Episode Summary:

“Time spent with cats is never wasted.” – Sigmund Freud.

Hello everyone, and welcome to The Happy Holiday Life! Today will be a warm and cozy podcast because today, we are talking about cats! These adorable little creatures either worm their way into people’s hearts, or they scratch their way into people’s fears! But cats have had a significant history and still have an exciting present, so let’s jump in as we land on all paws and walk through cats’ history!

  • “The oldest known pet cat existed 9,500 years ago.”

  • “Love them or hate them, cats have taken the world by storm from being worshipped as the ancient Egyptian cat god, Bastet, to being the inheritor of 7 million pounds in the United Kingdom, even to being the Mayor of an Alaskan town for 20 years!”

  • “And, just as they occupy a large portion of their owners’ hearts, their size and power dominate the animal kingdom all over the world.”

  • “The world’s smallest cat is a blue point Himalayan-Persian cat named Tinker Toy.  According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the cat measured only 7cm (2.75 in) tall and 19cm (7.5 in) long when fully grown. He lived six good years!”

Show Notes:

  • History:There are 38 species of cats globally, and the most common of them is the Felis Catus, which is what all you cat owners have! According to the Guinness world record, the oldest known cat existed 9,200 years ago! And this was not your Egyptian cat, this cat was found in Cyprus! Then, 4,000 years after this cat died, the Egyptians started making cats and worshiping them!

  • Even Though I’m A Dog Lover! : I love dogs, but there are these stray cats around my neighborhood that have been charming their ways right into my heart! My kids have even named them. The momma is Panthera, and the daddy cat is Fred! My dog, on the other hand, just loves to bark at them, lol! But I will admit I have fed them a couple of times. The momma and the babies are too darn cute!

  • They Are Very Power Dominate Animals! :tigers can grow up to 800lbs and measure nearly 11ft! They love to swim and can even run up to 40 mph, so I would not try and outrun these babies, primarily when their roar can be heard up to 1.8 miles away. Oh, and that doesn’t scare you (they can climb trees) scary!

  • Smallest Cat:but hey, on the bright side, they can be cute and small too! The smallest cat named Tinker Toy was 2.75in tall and 7.5in long, and that was fully grown! And he even lived six years! So adorable!

  • Awareness:not to damper the mood, but you should know that one year ago in India, the Indian Cheetah and three other species were reported extinct due to desertification. And the desertification also harmed the rest of the food chain. Today I want you to please take the time and donate to the world wildlife fund or another environmental fund you know. Rethink brands you use or buy, and research the environmental beliefs of the politicians we elect. Because remember the world only has so many resources, and it can only take so much, we only get one planet, and we need to start acting like we appreciate it and love it! Or one day, it might not be here.

  • The question to ask yourself:are you impacting wildlife for the better? If not, are you prepared to make a change?
